Our Story
Canine to 5 is a dog daycare and training center, operating since 2010 in the Loves Park, IL location. Though the ownership changed in 2018, Kelly's adventure of beginning from the ground up has made Canine to 5 what it is today: a dog-focused daycare facility full of love and close positive care. Shannah Gray is the owner, as of 2018, and plans on continuing with the same focus and bring a new set of skills and excitement to Canine to 5's mission.
Mission
Our mission is to provide daily positive care to your four legged loved ones. We are committed to enriching the lives of dogs and their owners using reward based methods. These are based on the premise that behaviors that are rewarded are increased and become habitual. Our training techniques are based on sound scientific principles and aid in the success of both the dog and the owner. We strive to make our space fun, safe and comfortable for all, and will continue to grow and expand as needed to be able to provide the best care possible.
Values
At Canine to 5 Rockford, we hold our core values to the highest standards and truly work to meet them every day. As a facility founded on positive reinforcement dog training, we do not advocate or use choke chains, prong collars, shock collars, force, fear, or intimidation. These tools are not allowed at our facility during daycare or training.

We care about your dog's health and well-being. We strive to make our environment the best it can be for each unique personality and disposition each dog brings with them, while also paying close attention to our clients.

Education
The world is an ever changing place and we recognize our need to be flexible and adjust. During the duration of their time in training, we will teach your dog manners and respect using luring, capturing, shaping and molding. We never use aversive training techniques. Our ownership stays up to date on the latest training sciences to ensure we are providing quality care to your pets.

Love
Love is the whole reason we are here to care for your dogs. We understand each dog brings their unique personality, and we would love to work with them to make them enjoy training as much as they possibly can. We will love your dogs as we love our own, and hope to be able to make any necessary accommodations that we can. We enjoy working with all of our client's dogs and we cannot wait to love on your dog, too!
